Law Enforcement

Research has shown that high-visibility enforcement of the State seat belt law is one of the most effective ways to increase seat belt use by the highest risk groups, such as, teens. For that reason law enforcement agencies located within the selected areas are being recruited to actively participate in this project. The State will be asking for the assistance of State, county and local law enforcement agencies during each campaign mobilization.

Enforcement agencies participating in the project will be asked to report citation information at the end of each mobilization campaign. Following are examples of the type of reporting that was used in the earlier teen seat belt project demonstration States.
